Cecil W. Harryman

Cecil W. Harryman, son of Wade and Elva McCloskey Harryman, was born March 4, 1901, near Douds, and departed this life Tuesday, June 12, 1973, at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua at the age of 72.

His life was spent in Van Buren County, the past twenty years in Mt. Zion.

On March 30, 1932, he was married to Nellie Cowen at Memphis, Mo. She remains to cherish his memory along with their four sons, Cecil, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas; Elvan of Kansas City, Kansas; Gary of Ft. Madison and Marvin at home; two daughters, Mrs. Marlene McLane of Columbus, Ohio, and Mrs. Cora Parker of Bonaparte. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and a brother, Bruce L. Harryman of Ottumwa.

A son preceded him in death.

Mr. Harryman was employed as a meter reader for the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. until his retirement in 1967. He was a member of the Full Gospel church in Luray, Mo. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a good neighbor and a true friend.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 15, 1973 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds with the Rev. Harold Shelton of Luray, Mo., officiating. Vocalists were Mrs. Keith A. Smith and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. Max Caves. Pall bearers were Deane Meek, Cardney Keller, Cecil Downey, William Helfinstine, Earl Forney and Harley Kelley. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
