E. Dewey Pickard

E. Dewey Pickard, 74, of Salem rural, died at 1:10 p.m. Sunday, April 22, at Henry County Memorial hospital, Mt. Pleasant.

Mr. Pickard farmed near Salem most of his life.

Born April 2, 1899, in Henry county, he was the son of George and Jennie Hannah Pickard. He married Dorothea Hoyer on Aug. 27, 1921 at Ft. Madison.

He was a member of Salem Friends church and was a trustee of William Penn College, Oskaloosa.

Surviving: The wife; four daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Pefferman, Wayland; Mrs. Dorothy Payne, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Willadean Logan, Aurora, Mo., and Mrs. Helen Key, Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Richard Pickard, Salem; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Salem Friends church, Revs. Waylen Brown, Lewis Savage and Ardith Anderson; Salem East cemetery. A memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society or to Salem Friends church.
