Edna Wilson

Edna Estella Wilson was born on a farm near Lebanon, Ia., to William and Sarah Peacock Mort on Dec. 10, 1887, and departed this life in the Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua, Ia., Jan. 5, 1973, at the age of 85 years and 26 days.

On March 2, 1910, she was married to Elmer Wilson who preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1944. To this union were born three children, one son who died in infancy, and two daughters. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Mabel and a brother, Carl.

She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd C. (Marjorie) Smith of Cantril, and Mrs. Stanley (Louise) Beer of Keosauqua; three grandchildren, Mrs. James (Shirley) Charbonneau of Keosauqua, Mrs. Gary (Carla) Winslow of Fitchburg, Mass., William Blackburn of Washington, Ia., and five great grandchildren.

Most of Edna's life was spent in the Lebanon Community until 1943 when they moved to Cantril. She joined the Methodist Church as a young woman and remained a faithful member.

She was a kind and loving Mother and Grandmother, always thinking of others before herself. She will be greatly missed by her family and a host of friends. The feeling of her loved ones is somewhat expressed in this quotation "Death is not an extinguishing of the light, but a blowing of the lamp, because the dawn has come."

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 8, 1973, at the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Church officiating under the direction of the Wellborn Funeral Home of Milton. Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery.

Special organ music was furnished by Mrs. Jimmy Wilson of Milton. Bearers were Dwight DeHart, Dee Megrath, Lester Matheson, Paul Johnston, Stanley Robinson and Lloyd Jamison.
