Mrs. Ben Sloan

Pearle Sloan, 80, of Bonaparte died Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 2:35 a.m. in Van Buren county Memorial hospital, Keosauqua. She had been ill one week.

She was born Nov. 9, 1892 at Victoria, Ill., the daughter of William and Alice Barber Suydam.

She married Ben H. Sloan of Mount Sterling in March of 1918 at Burlington. He survives.

She spent her entire married life in the Bonaparte area. Mrs. Sloan was a postal employee at the Bonaparte post office for eight years. She was a member of the Bonaparte United Methodist church and the Woman's Society of Christian Service and the American Legion Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by one son, Ross W. Sloan of Iowa City; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the United Methodist church, Bonaparte. The Rev. Edward Maus will officiate. Burial will be in the Thompson cemetery. The body is at the Carl Wilson Home in Bonaparte, Miller-Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, is in charge of arrangements.
