Clyde E. Watson, 80, of Mt. Sterling died at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital where he had been since July 12.

He was born Sept. 19, 1892 at Mt. Sterling, the son of Charles and Dora Scotten Watson. He married Della Bosh in 1917. She preceded hime in death. He married Huba Cohagan Sept. 19, 1944, in Keosauqua.

Mr. Watson was a retired painter and spent his entire life in Mt. Sterling.

He is survived by his widow; a son, Norris of Bonaparte; three step-daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Snodgrass of Keosauqua, Mrs. Letitia Garmoe of Burlington, Mrs. Leonora McCoy of Florissant, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; two brothers, Earl and Floyd of Keosauqua.

A grandson, Gary Wayne Watson, a brother, Dallas, and a sister, Celia, preceded him in death.

The body was taken to the Catcott Funeral Home in Keosauqua. The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mt. Sterling United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Church officiating. Burial was in Blackledge Cemetery.
