Jack T. Christy, 61, of Bonaparte, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 1980 at 4 a.m. In the Davis County Memorial Hospital at Bloomfield.
He was a son of Harley and Emma Johnson Christy, born Oct. 8, 1918 in Bowling Green, MO.

On August 6, 1949 at Bonaparte he married Ruth Hamlin who survives.

A 51 year resident of Bonaparte, he was the postmaster of Bonaparte and has served at that post for 31 years. He was a member of Sargeant-Osweiler American Legion Post at Bonaparte, the Masonic Lodge of Bonaparte and was a member of the National Association of Postmasters. He served in the Air Force in W.W. II.

In addition to his widow, he is also survived by one son, Thomas B. Christy of Bonaparte, his mother, Emma Christy of Bonaparte; and one sister, Mrs. Gerald (Marilyn) Millican of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The funeral was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 12 in the Bonaparte Baptist Church. Pastor Robert Dodds officiated. Masonic rites were held Monday at 8 p.m. In the Carl Wilson Home, Bonaparte. Burial was in the Bonaparte cemetery. A memorial was establilshed for the Bonaparte Cemetery association. The Hofbauer Funeral Home, Farmington, was in charge of arrangements.
