Mr. Rex S. Johnson

Funeral services for Mr. Rex Johnson, Hillsboro, rural route were held on Wednesday, August 2nd, 1972 at 2 p.m. at the Hillsboro Church with the Rev. L.H. Smith, pastor of the church and Rev. James Fry, officiating.

Music was provided by Mrs. Vinton Hoaglin, organist.

Casket bearers were Verl Shelman, Sylvester Kruse, William Whitaker, Robert Moothart, Carroll Cook, Harley Stark.

Honorary bearers were Boyd Hott, Knight Hartley, Craig Smutz, Roger Carter, Rex Jannings and J.M. Dodds.

Interment was in Hillsboro Cemetery with arrangements by Beatty-Jennings Chapels.

Mr. Johnson departed this life at the age of 74 suddenly Sunday evening, July 30th.

He was born March 24, 1898 at Mt. Union, Iowa the son of Edward and Anna Wick Johnson.

On December 19, 1919 he was married to Cordelia Fry at Ottumwa.

Mr. Johnson was a farmer. He was a graduate of Iowa State University, Ames, former president of Lee County Farm Bureau and served on a number of school boards.

He is survived by his wife, Cordelia; four sons, Max and Howard of Hillsboro, Kenneth of Stockport; and Arnold of Westmont, Ill.; one brother, Delbert Johnson, Batavia; and one sister, Alyce Ornduff of San Jose, California; twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
