Calvin Henry Corns, 92, Denmark, died at 7:35 a.m. April 7, 1988 at the Donnellson Manor Care Center. He had been in failing health since March, 1987.

Mr. Corns was born February 24, 1896 at Bentonsport. He retired in 1961 as a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary with 25 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith. An Army veteran of World War I, he was a member of the American Legion Post 463 of Bonaparte.

On September 28, 1921, at Bonaparte, he married Jennie June Henry, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Henry Corns, Denmark, and Stanley and Charles Corns, both of Fort Madison; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Bergmeier, Nauvoo, and Mrs. Albert (Barbara) Six, Niota; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and two sisters. His parents were Martin Henry and Mary Etta Scott Corns. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 1988 at the Bentonsport Cemetery. The Reverand Charles Kamilos officiated.
