Mrs. Bertha Jansen

Mrs. Bertha Adelia Jansen, 97, of 233 W. Alta Vista, died Wednesday at 11:15 p.m. at Jefferson Square Manor.

She was born in Farmington July 29, 1874, the daughter of James and Adelia Ward Forgrave. She had lived in Ottumwa for about 10 years.

She first married Daniel O'Neill and then Theodore Jansen, both of whom preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Harry Carter of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Tom Hawbaker of Fort Madison; one son James O'Neill of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, three brothers, and four sisters.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Farmington with the Rev. Paul Hart officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery.

Prayers for a Christian Wake will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. at the Jay Funeral Home.
