Bert E. Roberts

ELDON - Bert E. Roberts, 91, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa, where he had been a patient two months.

He was born May 7, 1880, in Scotland County, mo., the son of George and Sarah Roberts. Nearly a lifetime resident of the Eldon community, he was a member of the United Methodists Church and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He worked for 37 years on the Rock Island Railroad as an engineer.

He married Blanche Starr on Jan. 18, 1905. She died in 1965. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Helen Bales of Ottumwa, and Mrs. Nellie Parker of Keosauqua; two sons, Ernest of Des Moiones and Harold of Greeley, Colo.; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Two sons, two sisters and two brothers also preceded him in death.

The service will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. John Nye. Burial will be in the Eldon Cemetery.
