Elmer Barrickman

Elmer Wallace Barrickman, son of Elra and Pearl Martin Barrickman, was born in Schuyler County, Missouri, April 11, 1907, and passed away Friday morning, October 1, 1976, at the State Hospital in Fulton, Missouri. He was 69 years, 5 months and 20 days of age. He has been in failing health for some time.

November 27, 1927, he was married to Neva Pearl Ketchum at Lancaster, Missouri, and to this union two daughters were born.

He became a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Camp Ground when a young man. Most of his life was spent in Schuyler and Scotland County.

March 19, 1949, he was united in marriage to Nellie Oliver at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hayes in Kahoka, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife, Nellie; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Kutzner and husband, Walter of Memphis, Missouri, and Mrs. Darlene Fogle and husband, Paul, of Jefferson City, Missouri; one step-daughter, Nancy Clatt of Memphis; two step-sons, Jr. Oliver of Downing and Charles Oliver of Columbia, Missouri; two granddaughters; 12 grand-sons; two great-granddaughters; two sisters, Estaline Lewis of Burnt Prairie, Illinois, and Wilma Milligan of Anchorage, Alaska; one brother, Harley Barrickman of Sulton, Alaska.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter; five brothers; one sister, one granddaughter, one grandson.

Elmer worked as a Scotland County Road Supervisor for several years and has so much concern for the country improvement, and for the school children who were on the school buses. He also was a city night watchman.

He will be sadly missed by his relatives, friends, and anyone who would talk about farming.

Funeral services were held Sunday, October 3, at the Gerth & Baskett Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Neil Dubach officiating. Burial was at Camp Ground Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Barrickman, Donald Morlock, Mark Kutzner, Douglas Fogel, Stanley Jenkins and Junior Waddle.
