OBITUARY OF MARGARET WAINSCOTT
Margaret Wainscott, whose maiden name was Barr, was born March 19, 1819, in County Antrim, Ireland, and died May 14, 1907, at the home of her son Jas. Wainscott in Village township, Van Buren county, Iowa, aged 88 years, 2 months and 2 days. Interment was in the Leando cemetery. When a young girl she united with the Presbyterian church and although conditions prevented her from being an active worker, she remained faithful to the sacred vows. She was married to Alex. Moore in 1843, who died in Sept. 1859. To this union six children were born, two sons and four daughters, four of whom are now living, Mrs. E. J. Forbes of Saguache, Colo., Demp A. Moore and Ellen Ryan of Logan, Mont. and Mary A. Rambo of Douds-Leando. She was married to Greenville Wainscott, April 27, 1863. To this union was born one son, James Wainscott. She came with her husband and family to America in 1848 and to Van Buren county in 1852, removing two years later to the farm where she died. Like so many of the pioneers of this country, she was endowed with many sterling qualities. On account of her long residence here she had a large circle of acquaintances and many warm friends. She was a devoted mother, a good, kind neighbor and a true friend.
