Funeral services for Elbert Victor Lee, 72, were held at the Burnett Funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. Reynolds Murdock officiating. Keith Gaston gave special music with Mrs. Keith Gaston as pianist.
Interment was made in the Burge cemetery. Pallbearers included: Dale Dorham, Ralph Alter, Ralph Lee, Harold Lee, Kenneth Lee and Bert Lee.
Elbert Victor Lee, son of Green and Jennie Lee, was born in Adams County near Creston, Ia., Feb. 3, 1875, and passed away suddenly at his home in Cantril, Dec. 6, 1947, of cerebral hemorrhage at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 3 days.
The most of his life was spent in Henry and Van Buren counties, except for a few years in California and Kansas.On Feb. 12, 1896, he was united in marriage to Linnie Bell Denny, and to this union four children were born, three of who survive, including: two sons, Ivan Lee of Farmington, Orville Lee of Fairfield, and one daughter, Mrs. Goldie Enke of Burlington. Also surviving are four brothers: Harry of Arvilla, N. Dak., Sam and Roy of New London, and Walter Lee of West Burlington; 11 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father and sister. As a young man he attended Beulah church in Henry County.
