Anna May Gaston, daughter of John and Martha Bashor Gaston, was born June 16, 1893, near Bentonsport, Iowa, and departed life in Laughlin hospital, Kirksville, Mo., September 29, 1947 after a brief illness.
In September 1926 she was united in marriage to Roland T. McDonald and to this union was born a son, Merle.
In young womanhood she became a member of the Vernon Methodist Church in which belief she remained faithful.
Her entire life was spent in Van Buren County. She helped care for her aged parents on their farm near Bentonsport until her marriage. The remainder of her life was spent on their farm north of Cantril, Iowa.
Her quiet, sweet, unassuming nature will always be remembered by all who know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother, Theodore Gaston. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Roland T. McDonald, and son, Merle: one brother, David Gaston, who has made his home with them the past 14 years; one sister, Mrs. Cora Elliott of Donnellson: a number of nieces and other relatives, and many friends.
This Bible verse is symbolic of her life; Proverbs 3:17 “Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.”
