Charles H. Schafer

Charles H. Schafer Sr., 84, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 28 at the Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

He was born Jan. 7, 1883, in Wahoo, Neb., the son of Joseph and Catherine Boyle Hawkins, who survives. Also surviving is one son, Charles Schafer Jr. of Birmingham; two grandsons; one sister, Mrs. A.L. Quinn of Des Moines and one brother, Phillip F. Schafer of Arlington, Wash.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield and had lived in Van Buren County since moving from Des Moines in 1930.

Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 1 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fairfield, in charge of Father C.P. Madsen. Burial was in Green Glade Cemetery at Farmington.
