MRS. EFFIE SHAFFER

Mrs. Effie B. Shaffer, 83, a lifetime resident of the Douds area died at 1:55 a.m. Saturday at Memorial hospital, Keosauqua. She entered the hospital Nov. 19 after suffering a stroke at her home two and a half miles southwest of Douds.

Services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, in charge of the Rev. G. Basil Tadlock. Burial was in Leando cemetery.

Mrs. Shaffer was born Aug. 1, 1882, near Douds, the daughter of John and Sarah Bell Denning. She was married to Charles A. Shaffer Nov. 26, 1903. He died in 1960.

Mrs. Shaffer is survived by nine nieces and nephews. Eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
