John R. Page

John Robert Page, son of William Benjamin and Josephine Sturdivant Page, was born Dec. 12, 1879 and departed this life at 2 a.m., Dec. 30, 1963, at the Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua where he had been confined after an automobile accident, Nov. 9, 1963.

His early life was spent on a farm northeast of Bonaparte, Ia. In 1908 he moved to Hillsboro, Ia. where he operated a grocery store and farmed until 1951 when ill health caused his retirement.

His marriage to Bertha Smith was terminated by her death in 1905. He was married in October, 1908 to Octavia Endersby, who preceded him in death in February, 1952. To this union were born two children, a son, Arthur William and a daughter, Pattie Bernice. He later married to Myrtle Hughes, who passed away in May, 1961.

Survivors include his two children; a brother, George Page of Bonaparte; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon Jan. 1 at the Hillsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Chester Werft of Stockport officiating. Mrs. Vinton Hoaglin was the organist.

Bearers were Russell Boyle, Wayne Ross, Robert Sturdivant, Dr. David Endersby, Chas. Page, Percy Smith, Harold Smith and Floyd Page.
