Pauline H. Lydolph

Mrs. Pauline H. Lydolph was born Pauline Henrietta Augusta, daughter of Albert and Anna Sophie Guenterberg Ruschke, on September 17, 1895 at Chatham, Sangamon County, Illinois.

A year later, The family moved to Sac City, Iowa where Pauline spent her girlhood and lived until the age of 22. At an early age she became a member of the Lutheran Church.

In 1915, a young widower from Bonaparte, Iowa, Guy William Lydolph, came to work on the Ruscke farm, where they met and were married on January 3, 1917. They immediately moved to the Lydolph farm north of Bonaparte, to make their home.

To this union were born 4 children, Gwendolyn Margaret, Evelyn June, Paul Edward, and Herman Albert.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died September 18th, 1928, her infant daughter Evelyn June who died January 14th, 1923, one brother, eight sisters, and one infant grandson.

Ten years ago, failing health forced her to leave the farm and she moved into the Hainline Nursing Home in Bonaparte where she lived until last Friday, October 6th, when she became critically ill and was taken to the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital at Keosauqua, Iowa.

She passed away at the hospital on Tuesday, October 10th, 1967 at 11:10 A.M. at the age of 72 years and 23 days.

Surviving are two sons, Herman of Bellevue, Nebraska, Paul of Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and one daughter Gwendolyn (Mrs. Albert Kaiser) of Peoria, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Jennifer, Ed, Don, Paul, Tom and Andy Lydolph and David Kaiser; four stepchildren, Mrs. Thelma Vickers of Lone Tree, Iowa, Mrs. Delpha Huff of DeWitt, Iowa, Melvin Lydolph of Forrest Park, Georgia, and William Lydolph Whitmore of Ottumwa, Iowa; and two sisters, Miss Frieda Ruschke and Mrs. Amanda Chriswell both of Sac City, Iowa.

Her entire life was devoted to her family and friends. She was most happy to have relatives and friends visit her at the nursing home during her last years.

During her long and lingering illness she was tenderly cared for at the nursing home by Marie Hainline and Georgia Mounce and considered them as two of her best and most loved friends.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 P.M., Thursday, October 12, 1967 in the Bonaparte Baptist Church with the Reverend Ronald Cochran officiating. Interment in the Bonaparte Cemetery.
