Nellie Lowery

Mrs. Nellie Lowery, 74, of Farmington, died very suddenly Saturday at 10:15 a.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, Keosauqua, where she had been a patient about one week.

She was the daughter of Oscar and Mina White Dorothy, born Dec. 30, 1892 in Illinois.

She married Lonnie Lowery on March 5, 1910 at Keosauqua and he survives.

She was a resident of Farmington for 25 years moving here from a farm west of Farmington.

Mrs. Lowery was a member of the Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., Rebekah Lodge, Homemakers club, Gray Ladies and the Legion Auxiliary.

Besides her husband, she is survived by 3 sons, Glen of West Branch, Raymond of Keosauqua, and Paul of Farmington; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Gladys) Muntz and Mrs. Eugene (Mabel) Medaris, both of Farmington; 3 sisters, Mrs. Ethel McCoon, Montrose, Mrs. Laura Fife, Blandensville, Ill. and Mrs. Lucille Ortel, Phoenix, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Floyd, a brother and 3 sisters.

The funeral service was held Monday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church with the Rev. Harold Schirm officiating. Burial was in Greenglade cemetery.
