Melinda Ellen Holcomb

Melinda Ellen Holcomb, daughter of Harry and Nannette King Holcomb, was born Sept. 9, 1965, at Oskaloosa and departed this life Saturday, March 22, 1969, at the Mahaska Hospital in Oskaloosa, at the age of 3.

Her brief life here on earth was spent with her parents, her brothers, Phillip and Michael and her sister Carolyn, who together with her formed the circle of a happy family, and who remain to remember the joy and inspiration which she gave to them, in spite of her lengthy illness. She also leaves her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Keck of Birmingham, her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Holcomb of Douds, and her great-grandmother, Mrs. Harry Lagle of Selma, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends, to each of whom she was a blessed example of courage in the face of adversity.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, 1969, at 10 a.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. Dennis Nicholson, United Methodist pastor officiating. Pall bearers were Kenneth Mathias, Harry Anderson, Leon Kelderman and Duane Kelderman. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
