JAMES R. GARRETT

James A. Garrett, 71, Keosauqua, died Saturday, Mar. 4 at his home at about 4 p.m., from a heart attack.

He was the son of James and Mary McQuietly Garrett, born June 18, 1895, in Keosauqua. He was a lifelong resident of Keosauqua and lived with his sister Sarah. He was employed at the Keosauqua school, where he had worked for 30 years. The school annual was dedicated to him in 1950.

He is survived by his sister Sarah and several cousins.

Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Van Buren Community High School Gymnasium. No classes were held during the time of services so students and faculty members could attend.

The Rev. J.C. Beverly of Burlington officiated. Burial was in Purdom cemetery. Catcott Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund is being established.
