Terry Lee Elmore

Terry Lee Elmore, 18-year-old son of Guy Lee and Betty Jean Trueblood Elmore, was killed in a traffic accident near Oregon, Ill. Wednesday, Dec. 11.

He was the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Trueblood of Salem.

An unidentified companion was also killed in the accident.

Mr. Elmore was born at Ft. Madison on Sept. 25, 1945. The family moved to Oregon six years ago. Mr. Elmore was graduated from the Oregon high school last spring, and entered the navy thereafter. He was home on leave at the time of the accident.

Besides his parents and maternal grandparents, he is survived by three brothers, Jerry, Billy and Tommy, all at home, and a sister, Mrs. Judy Haney of Oregon and a nephew, Ronnie Haney.

Also surviving are the paternal grandmother Mrs. Edna Ponte of Mt. Pleasant and several more distant relatives living in the Salem vicinity.

Last rites were held at the Salem Congregational church at 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 14. The Rev. 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 14. The Rev. Patrick Kelly officiated. Burial was in Salem East cemetery with the U.S. Navy performing the military ritual at the graveside. Pallbearers were Larry Elmore, Marvin Elmore, Roy Elmore, Russell McDowell, Gary Black and Michael Dvorak.

The Beatty funeral home at Salem was in charge of arrangements.
