**Handwritten: Rec-Rep. 12 March 1963

Mrs. Daisy Denning

Daisy L. Wirt, daughter of Emma B. and David Wirt, was born Jan. 18, 1879 on a farm west of Leando, Iowa. She was married Oct. 3, 1900 to George H. Denning, also of Leando. To this union was born two daughters, Ruth E., who died in infancy and Lois (Mrs. Oscar Hellman) of Knoxville, Iowa.

She spent the greater part of her life on a farm near Douds, leaving there after the death of her husband twelve years ago. Since that time she has made her home at What Cheer, Iowa, spending the last few winters with her daughter in Knoxville.

She had been a member of the Douds Methodist Church for fifty years.

Besides her daughter, Lois, she leaves a sister, Mrs. Nellie Glover of Ottumwa, and two grandchildren, Ellen of Knoxville and Gordon, who is in the Army, stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia.

Of her many fine qualities for which she was loved by family and friends the outstanding one was the code she lived by; it was to render unselfish service with deeds and her time to those in need when it counted most. She did this with no thought of any personal rewards. In fact she did not want to be dependent on others.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 8, 1964 at 2 p.m. at the Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, with the Rev. G. Basil Tadlock, Methodist Pastor, officiating. Vocalists were Forrest Hanshaw and Mrs. Robert Pedrick, accompanied by Mrs. John Robinson.

Bearers were John Beghtol, Raymond Finney, Dale Holcomb, Roscoe Stagers, Homer Miller and Leland White. Interment was in the Leando Cemetery.
