Edmund Daugherty

Mr. Edmund Franklin Daugherty, 39, 1313 Ave. D, Ft. Madison, died Monday, Mar. 30 at the Veterans hospital, Tucson, Ariz. He had been ill for several years and seriously ill two months.

A native of Cantril, Iowa, he was born July 4, 1924, the son of Charles and Emma Burns Daugherty, who are deceased. On Oct. 13, 1951 he was married to Mildred Compton at Ft. Madison.

Mr. Daugherty had lived at Ft. Madison since 1951 and worked until his illness forced retirement at the IAAP. He was affiliated with the First Methodist church and was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his widow, a daughter, Karen, 10; a brother, Robert Daugherty of Denmark; three sisters, Mrs. George Sadler, Keosauqua; Mrs. E. Wiley, Milton, and Mrs. Stanley Anders, Farmington; nieces and nephews.

The body will arrive at Barr Memorial Chapel, Ft. Madison, Thursday afternoon. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Barr Chapel with burial in Soldiers Circle at Oakland cemetery, Ft. Madison. The Rev. Francis Hitch will officiate. There will be military rites at the grave.
