James T. Blanchard

James T. Blanchard, 83, died Monday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

He was born Aug. 23, 1884 in Van Buren County, the son of Tillet and Anna McElroy Blanchard. He had lived in Selma and Eldon all his life. He was employed by the Rock Island railroad 49 years, prior to his retirement as an engineer. He married Nancy Hewitt Aug. 23, 1903. She preceded him in death in 1965.

Surviving are six sons, Raymond of Cedar Rapids, James of Eldon, Robert of Ft. Worth, Tex., Charles of Wilton Junction, Martin of Reedley, Calif., and John of Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Nordberg of Houston, Tex., Mrs. William Streeby of Eldon, and Mrs. Robert Flint of Springfield, Va.; 32 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home, Eldon, with the Rev. Earl Menning officiating.
