Edward J. Von Seggen

Edward James Von Seggen, son of Frederick and Margaret Bricker Von Seggen was born Jan. 7, 1870 on a farm about 2 miles west of Farmington and passed away on April 3, 1949, at the age of 79 years, two months and 27 days.

He spent his entire life on the farm where he was born, with the exception of the last two years, when due to ill health, he sold his farm, and went to make his home with is children.

He was united in marriage to Jennie M. Reisner on Oct. 10, 1894. To this union were born two sons, and four daughters.

He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant son, Kenneth, and also four sisters and six brothers.

He leaves to mourn his passing his children, Denzel of Clear Lake, Iowa, Mrs. Cecelia Crosby of Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Smith of Pleasantville, Iowa, Mrs. Ruth Smith of Pleasantville, Iowa, Mrs. Mary Gray of Farmington, Iowa and Mrs. Gladys Loges of Argyle, Iowa; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Alice White of Farmington and many other relatives and friends.

He was a devoted father and will be remembered affectionately, not only by his family, but by his many friends and neighbors.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at the Farmington Nazarene church with the Rev. Forrest Backous officiating. Burial was in Steinmeyer cemetery between Bonaparte and Farmington.
