JOHN A. CRAIG RITES WILL BE HELD TODAY

Funeral services for John A. Craig, 84, prominent Van Buren county retired farmer, of Keosauqua, will be held at 2 p.m., this Thursday at the Keosauqua Methodist church. Services will be in charge of the Rev. Burton Bastuscheck, with burial in the Pittsburg cemetery.

For the past 17 years he had served as a member of the Inheritance Tax Appraisers commission for Van Buren county, and resigned about two months ago because of ill health.

He had served as a member of the Keosauqua town council and for many years prior to 1948, was a member of the board of stewards of the Methodist church.

He had been seriously ill about two months and in failing health for the past nine months. He died at 10 a.m., Tuesday, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Russell Boley of Bloomfield. He was born August 10, 1866, near Keosauqua, and had been a resident of this community all his life.

Active in church and social work, he was known to be an outstanding contributer to all the community and public welfare benefits, giving generously to the Memorial hospital.

Surviving are his widow, Dolly, and five children, Collin and Harold Craig of Keosauqua, Mrs. Arthur Bloomquist of Burlington, Mrs. Russell Boley of Bloomfield, and Kenneth Craig of Appleton, Wis., and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
