MARIE T. PEEL

Mrs. Marie T. Peel, 65, of Cantril died Wednesday, August 14, about 3 p.m. while en route home following a medical checkup at a Kirksville hospital.

She was a passenger in a car driven by Mrs. Agnes Holmes of Bonaparte, and death apparently resulted from a heart attack. They were about four miles north of Memphis when the attack came.

She had been an English and dramatics teacher for 30 years, mostly in Van Buren County schools, and was presently employed by the Fox Valley School at Cantril. She moved to Cantril in the fall of 1954.

She was the daughter of George L. and Michel Lynn Tomlinson and was born at Mount Pleasant on June 11, 1898. She was married to Loren I. Peel of Keosauqua June 20, 1933. He survives. Mrs. Peel was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Mount Pleasant, PEO at Milton and Cantril Eastern Star and Emerson club, and was a vice president of the Business and Professional Womens Club of Iowa.

Surviving are her husband and one brother, Ralph L. Tomlinson of Des Moines.

The funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at the Cantril Christian Church with Elder Herbert C. Shaw officiating. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery at Mount Pleasant.
