Veryl R. Edgerly, 1935-2017

Veryl R. Edgerly, 82, formerly of Eldon, passed away at his home in Lawton, OK, on April 24, 2017. He was born February 14, 1935, in Libertyville to Ralph Edgerly and Edith (Tweedy) Edgerly. Veryl grew up on an Iowa farm and attended the Turkey Scratch and Buzzard Glory one-room schoolhouses. He graduated in 1953 from Eldon High School and went on to receive his bachelor of arts from Southern Bible College in Houston, TX. He was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God for 59 years, pastoring churches in Georgia, Wisconsin, Texas, and Oklahoma. He also served as the District Bishop of Wisconsin and New Mexico.

Veryl is survived by his wife Sally (Williams) Edgerly; three children, Vernon (Veronica) Edgerly, Renee (Robert) Fletcher, and Ruthie (Shawn) Oberg: and numerous grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Veryl was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Berneice Aday Edgerly; a brother, George, and a daughter, Linda Aday Hatcher.

Graveside service was held April 29, 2017, at Mt. Moriah Cemetery north of Douds. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, handled the graveside service.
