Mrs. Alice Leona Claman, 49, died Sunday about 12:45 p.m. while shoveling snow at her farm home 2 miles southwest of Cantril.

Alice Leona Claman

Mrs. Alice Leona Claman was born November 2, 1912, near Pulaski, and passed away at her home near Cantril, March 11, 1962. She was the daughter of Frank and Alice Cortum.

She was married to Ralph Cargile, who preceded her in death. To this union one son, Ralph, was born.

On June 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to N.J. Claman, who preceded her in death, May 21. 1961.

She is survived by her son, Ralph H. Cargile of Keosauqua; her mother, Mrs. Alice Cortum of Pulaski; one brother, Leland Cortum of Ankeny; four sisters, Mrs. Helen Hamberg of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Catherine Songer of Prole, Mrs. Marian Claman of Mt. Sterling and Mrs. Marilyn Cunningham of Memphis, Mo.; three step-children, Mrs. Rena Pogge and George Claman of Ft. Dodge and Carl Claman of Mt. Sterling; nine step-grandchildren; several uncles, aunts, nephews and nieces and many friends.

Memorial services were held at the Cantril Christian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 with Herbert C. Shaw, minister officiating. The vocalists were Mrs. Jim Charbonneau and Mrs. Maynard Manske, accompanied by LInda Buxton. Burial was in the Pulaski Cemetery.
