Jess Holmes

Jess E. Holmes, 75-year-old retired farmer and construction worker died at the Metz nursing home, Donnellson at 8:45 p.m. Monday, July 10. Death terminated a long period of declining health.

A bachelor, Holmes was a life resident of Donnellson vicinity. He was born Aug. 17, 1885, the son of Frank and Emma Holmes.

Holmes is survived by three brothers and a sister: Howard Holmes, New York City; George Holmes, Keokuk; Sidney Holmes, Stockport, and Mrs. Herman Klug, of Argyle. Two brothers, Benjamin and Thomas Holmes, died previously.

Last rites will be conducted by the Rev. J. Sherrill Gohde, pastor of St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed church, at the Miller funeral home Thursday at 2 p.m. (CDT). Burial will be in Oakland cemetery, at Ft. Madison.
