EDWARD MORRISSEY

Edward Morrissey, 84, of Boone died Sept. 3 at 5 a.m. in the Boone County Hospital. Born in Illinois, Mr. Morrissey moved to Ames in 1902 and was employed with the Iowa State Highway Commission from 1920 until his retirement in 1953. He had been a resident of Boone for the past two years.

He married Sarah Lowery, formerly of Farmington, in 1906.

Mr. Morrissey is survived by three brothers, Frank, also of Boone, Harry of Los Angeles, Calif., and John Morrissey of Duluth, Minn., and a sister, Mary Morrissey, also of Boone, and a brother-in-law, Lonnie Lowery of Farmington.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah, who died in March of 1959.

Funeral service was held Monday, Sept. 5, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. John Kissling officiating. Burial was in the Ames Municipal Cemetery.

The Rosary was read at 8 p.m. on Sunday at Stevens Memorial Chapel.
