Don H. Proper

Don H. Proper, 67, of Farmington, died Monday, May 15 at 7:40 p.m. at Laughlin Hospital at Kirksville, Mo. He had been seriously ill about a month.

He was born in Harrisburg Township Dec. 13, 1893, to Worthy F. and Clara Belle Israel Proper. Most of his life was spent in the Bonaparte and Harrisburg communities and he also lived in Des Moines before moving to Farmington two years ago. He was a Linotype machinist.

He was married Feb. 5, 1914 in Ottumwa, to Clara Johnson, who survives. He was a member of the Bonaparte Masonic Lodge and Royal Arch Masons, the Commandery at Keosauqua, the Consistory and Shrine at Davenport and the Moose Lodge at Fort Madison.

Besides his widow he leaves three sons, Worthy of Garden Grove, Calif., Richard of Santa Fe, N.M., and Donald of Winchester, Ind., four daughters, Mrs. Wannabelle Mosier of Fairfield, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan of Des Moines and Mrs. Virginia Trout and Mrs. Irene Burns of Bonaparte; a brother, B.R. Proper of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Mrs. Maude Nixon of San Diego, and 16 grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bonaparte Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Marvin Janssen in charge. Burial at the Vale cemetery. The casket will be moved Wednesday afternoon from the Miller Funeral Home at Farmington to the Carl Wilson Home at Bonaparte.
