Mrs. Alta Thompson

Mrs. Alta Catherine Thompson, 82, who lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Blanch and Milton Anderson at 699 Boulevard Roard, Keokuk, died very suddenly at 10:10 Saturday night, May 20 at the home of another daughter and son-in-law, Gladyce and Leo Smith at Carthage, Ill. Although her death was very sudden, she had been in failing health several years.

Mrs. Thompson was born Mar. 16, 1882, at Bonaparte, the daughter of the late Frank and Emma Tompkins Perkins. She was married to Seth Leonard Thompson on April 4, 1905 at Ft. Madison. She had lived in Keokuk since 1929. Mrs. Thompson attended the Trinity Methodist church. Having raised 11 children, she was very devoted to her family.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Milton (Blanch) Anderson of Keokuk, Mrs. James (Esther) Pope of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Leo (Gladyce) Smith of Carthage and Mrs. Catherine Wheeler of Louisville, K.; three sons, Earl and Harold Thompson of Frankfurt, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Brewster of Ft. Collins, Colo.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jan. 1, 1946; four sons, Gerald in 1928, Roy in 1929, Daniel in 1956 and Clayton in 1960 and a sister, Mrs. Clara Hornbaker.

Service was held at 10 o'clock, Tuesday morning, May 23 DST at the Schmidt Memorial Home, Keokuk, with the Rev. Wesley W. Steinmetz officiating. Interment was in the Greenglade cemetery at Farmington.
