Mrs. Edd Bennett

Amelia Emma Bennett, second daughter of John Frederick and Martha Schau Mack, was born near Farmington, January 1, 1890, and departed this life, July 24, 1958, at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 24 days. She was the second child of a family of three.

On June 20, 1907, she was united in marriage to James Edward Bennett. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. They are: Elmer Bennett, Holcomb, Kansas; Emma Harkness, Plad, Missouri; Dale Bennett, Phoenix, Arizona, and Dorothy McElroy, Clarinda, Iowa.

Besides her husband and children, she is survived by 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; a brother, Carl F. Mack, Little York, Illinois and a sister, Bertha Troutman of Ottumwa, Iowa, nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

She and her husband made their home northeast of Bonaparte for 21 years. They then moved to Kansas where they lived for five years, then moving to Clarinda, Iowa, where they made their home for three years. They have lived the remaining years north of Cantril.

Mrs. Bennett was an active member of the Cantril Christian church, and of the Christian Women's Missionary Society.

She loved God's out of doors and was manifested by the beautiful flowers with which she surrounded her home. She delighted in sharing these with others, never forgetting to bring them to the house of the Lord.

Memorial services were held at the Cantril Christian church Monday, July 24th at 1:30 p.m. Herbert C. Shaw, minister, officiated. Larue Wilson, W.W. Wellborn, L.V. Daggs and H.S. Saar sang, accompanied by Mrs. S.E. Wellborn, who also played organ selections. Burial in the Cantril cemetery.
