L.G. Housholder

L.G. Housholder, 85, of Bonaparte, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the home of his son, Theodore in Bonaparte. He had been failing in health, but only ill about two weeks.

He was born Aug. 2, 1874 at Hebron, Ill. to Lewis B. and Mary Frances Miller Housholder. He spent most of his life in and near Bonaparte coming here in 1904. He was a farmer, blacksmith, pet fancier and judge of poultry.

He was married to Bertha Below on July 26, 1899 at Barrington, Ill. They had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1959. Mrs. Housholder preceded him death on Aug. 22, 1959.

Mr. Housholder was a member of the Methodist church, a charter member of the American Poultry Association and one of the first group to take examination for license poultry judging.

He is survived by three sons, Clarence of Des Moines, James of Pontiac, Mich. and Theodore of Bonaparte, Iowa; three daughters, Mrs. Audrey Boyer and Mrs. McIntyre of Pontiac, Mich. and Mrs. Grace Allen of Davenport, Iowa; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, two sisters and one grandchild.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 at the Bonaparte Presbyterian church with the Rev. Marvin Janssen officiating. Burial at the Bonaparte cemetery.
