Mrs. D. S. Jamison
Louisa Broadwell, daughter of Euclid and Laura Broadwell, was born in Sangamon Co, IL, August 27, 1836. In 1854, she moved with her parents to Van Buren Co, IA, where, on February 21, 1861, she was married to Daniel S. Jamison. To this union were born one daughter , Cora M. Miller of near Mt. Zion, IA, and four sons, Elsworth of Keosauqua, IA, Sherman and Bob of near Fulton, MO and Ralph of Hedrick, IA. On a farm three miles northeast of Keosauqua, they passed their married life until in August, 1891, the husband and father died, but she continued to reside at the old home up to a year ago, when on account of poor health, she was compelled to leave it. Her life was one devoted to home and all that goes to make home happy. Her first thoughts were always for her loved ones, never tiring of doing deeds of kindness for them and all others with whom her life came in contact. The last few years she had been an invalid, yet through her sickness she was cheerful, ever thoughtful of those around her, ever thoughtful of those around her, trying in every way to lighten the labor of them who cared for her. In her youth she joined the Methodist church. With her faith in Him to the last, she was willing to let Him take her to the promised Home, her only regret heing that of leaving her loved ones. In October, 1907, she went to the home of her sons, Sherman and Bob, near Fulton, MO where death claimed her June 17, 1908. Besides the above memtioned children she leaves to mourn her loss, several grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Maria Farrington of Fayetteville, AK, a brother, M. F. Broadwell of Hedrick, IA, a step daughter, Anna A. Hearne of Birmingham, IA. The body was brought to Keosauqua for burial, services being held at the M.E.church at 6 o'clock in the evening, June 19, in charge of Rev Thorn of Keosauqua and Rev Gilbert of Cantril; interment being in the Oak Lawn Cemetery.
