K Esther Arthmann, 97, of Little Pond Rd., Center Sandwich, New Hampshire, died Feb. 24, 1998, at the Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH.

She was born April 8, 1900 in Mt. Pleasant, IA, the daughter of the late Hiram and Jennie (Cook) Gilbert. She had lived in NH for 22 years moving here from Iowa, where she worked as a librarian at the Keosauqua, IA library and she worked out of her home as a piano teacher.

She was a graduate of Wesleyan College in Iowa, a member of the Methodist Federated Church in Sandwich and oldest honorary member of the P.E.O.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, William L. and Kay Arthmann of Columbia, SC, James H. and Violet Arthmann of Sandwich, a daughter, Jane Ann Long of Longbeach, Miss, ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Arthmann. (obit for William lists a son, Charles, as deceased)

Following cremation, burial will take place at the convenience of the family in Mt. Pleasant, IA

Baker-Gagne Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Wolfeboro and West Ossipee, NH were in charge of arrangements.
