OBITUARY
Mrs. T.W. Haney

On May 8, 1843, Tillie Stewart was born to James and Mary A. Stewart, who were then living in Ohio. In 1852, the family moved to Morgan county, Illinois, and in 1865 came to Van Buren county, where the parents lived during the remaining days of their life.

On December 26, 1869, Tillie Stewart was married to Thomas Williams Haney and they have lived in Van Buren county during all their married life, except about 2 years when they lived in Davis county, Iowa. In 1886 they moved to Milton, Iowa, and then in 1896, came to Keosauqua, where they have made their home since that date.

Two daughters and one son were born to them. The son were born to them. The son died in infancy, and one of the daughters Lillie, was married to C.H. Holland in 1895. This daughter departed this life in April, 1897, leaving an infant son, Howard Haney Holland, Mrs. Haney assumed the care of this grandson and Howard grew to be a healthy and hearty boy of 13 years, at which time he was afflicted with diphtheria and became a victim of that disease. Miss Daisy Haney is still living and has been the constant companion of her father and mother, and has been a great blessing and comfort to the family.

On last Armistice Day, Mrs. Haney fell and seriously injured her shoulder, but seemed to recover from that in a wonderful way, considering her age and delicacy of health. She seemed to be improving and getting along fine, until the 3rd day of January, 1934, she stated she was not so well, and the family were concerned about her, and that evening about 10 o'clock, she departed this life.

Mrs. Haney was converted at an early age in her own home. Her father and mother were both religious, and were intent upon having their children raised in a religious home, and so conducted the home with that in view. Soon after her conversion, she joined the Methodist church, and she continued a faithful member of her chosen church until the day of her death. She was a regular attendant at the services of the church, except when prevented by the conditions in her home and her health.

Mrs. Haney's mother was an invalid for the last twenty years of her life, and during all that time, Mrs. Haney gave to her mother the care of a dutiful daughter.

Mrs. Haney had one brother and one sister, who grew to maturity, both of whom have preceded her in death. Of her her immediate family, she leaves her husband and daughter, Daisy to mourn their loss, and in addition to these, she leaves many nieces and nephews, and other relatives, besides a host of friends.
