OBITUARY

MRS. CLYDE BREWSTER

Mrs. Clyde (Retta) Brewster, 77, of Keosauqua died Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. in Van Buren County Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for a day. She had been in failing health for over a year.

Born in Van Buren County Jan. 6, 1887, she was Mary Margrattie Beer, the daughter of A. J. and Emma Stevens Beer. Her marriage to Clyde Brewster took place Oct. 28, 1906. He preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1962. Mrs. Brewster spent her entire life in Van Buren County. She was a member of Center Chapel Methodist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Miss Ora Beer, who had mode [sic] her home with Mrs. Brewster since Mr. Brewster's death; two brothers, Willis Beer of Keosauqua and Kenneth Beer of Chicago, and several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Minnie Aylor, also preceded her in death.

Services were held Feb. 1 at the Center Chapel Methodist Church, with the Rev. E. S. Tschetter officiating. Burial was in the Center Chapel Cemetery.

MRS. CLYDE BREWSTER

KEOSAUQUA. -- Mrs. Retta Brewster, 77, died Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient one day. She had been in failing health over one year.

Born in Van Buren County Jan. 6, 1887, she was Mary Margrattie Beer, the daughter of A. J. and Emma Stevens Beer. Her marriage to Clyde Brewster took place Oct. 28, 1906, and he died Dec. 22, 1962.

She was a lifelong resident of Van Buren County.

She was a member of Center Chapel Methodist Church near Keosauqua.

Survivors include a sister, Miss Ora Beer, who lived with her since Mr. Brewster's death; two brothers, Willis Beer of Keosauqua and Kenneth Beer of Chicago; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister.

The body is at Burnett-Catcott Funeral Home. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Center Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. E. S. Tschetter officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Name of newspaper and date of obit not given, however a handwritten date of 11-29-64 [sic] is written on obit, which does not correspond with first obit's death date of Jan. 30 (which was a Thursday). Headstone shows 1877-1964.)
