George Holdefer

George Holdefer, son of Charles H. and Elizabeth Holdefer was born in Kahoka, Mo., on April 17, 1886 and passed away at the Ottumwa hospital on May 31, 1945 at the age of 59 years one month and 14 days.

He attended the public schools at Kahoka and at the age of 14 was confirmed and united with the Evangelical church there.

In 1904 the family moved to Donnellson where he found employment as helper at the depot and as station agent at LaCrew just a few miles away.

He was married to Luella Frank on July 17, 1910 and to this union was born 5 children, three of whom passed away in infancy. They then moved to Sharpsburg, Cantril and Pulaski where he was employed as depot agent. Then in 1926 they moved to Milton where he established himself in the Oil business.

Mr. Holdefer was well known for his integrity. Though rather retiring by nature he made many friends on whom he could always depend.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his devoted wife, two sons, Robert in service and Don at home; two sisters, Mrs. Irma Reinz of Winnapeg, Canada, and Miss Alma Holdefer of St. Charles, Mo.; three brothers, J.O. Holdefer of Perry, Charles of Donnellson and John H. of West Lasogyette, Wisc. and a number of nieces and many friends.

Funeral services were held at the Milton Methodist church on Friday afternoon, June 1. Ser- services were conducted by the Rev. J.C. Behrens with burial at Donenllson(err).
