Charles M. Amsberry

Charles M. Amsberry died Monday evening, Dec. 30 at the Van Buren County Memorial Hospital, in Keosauqua. He had been in failing health the past few months but death was unexpected

He was born March 19, 1880 in Knoxville, Ia., the son of Horace Allen and Mary Jane Blaine Amsberry, and was 88 years, nine months old at the time of his death.

In his early years, he homesteaded ground in North Dakota.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Evelyn Drew Teter on February 27, 1912. She preceded him in death in 1926. He farmed near Hillsboro and spent many years as a carpenter and painter.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, seven brother and two sisters, one of whom was his twin.

Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Blanche Tate of Milton and the following step-children: Charles Al Teter of Lawrence, Kan., Mrs. Allen Carter of Stockport and Mrs. G. M. Perry of Aurora, Colo. and also a number of nieces and nephews.

For the past 30 years, he made his home with Mr. And Mrs. Allen Carter at Stockport.

Services were held Thursday, Jan. 2, at 1 p.m. at the Stockport Christian Church in charge of Rev. Chester C. Werft. Interment was at the Woodland Cemetery in Lovilia, Ia.
