KEOSAUQUA WOMAN SUICIDES.

People of Keosauqua were shocked about 11 o'clock Saturday forenoon, September 7, when the news spread over town that Hazel Cocherell, wife of Curtis Cocherell, had taken a dose of strychnine at her home here with suicidal intent, and that she would probably die. That morning she was apparently in her usual health, and in the middle of the forenoon, dress in her wedding clothes, went down to town. On her return home she stopped at the pickle factory and talked for awhile with her husband who was working there. Soon after her arrival at her home, near the pickle factory, she appeared on the front porch screaming. Her husband ran to her assistance and directed his companions to call a doctor at once. Dr. Sherman was soon there, and Dr. Craig was also called. All was done that could be, but death came about half past two that afternoon. She left no word, and the family can assign no reason for the rash act. Hazel Lovilla Black was born to William and Mary Rachal Black at Keosauqua, August 31, 1888. Her home had always been here, and here she was educated in the public schools. On September 16, 1911, she was married to Curtis Cocherell. Funeral services were held at the home on Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H.J. Wilkins in charge. Burial was in the Purdom cemetery beside her mother.
