--Mrs. Martha Selby Hartwell died in Denver, Colo., Jan. 1, 1910, of pneumonia. Mrs. J.H. Duffield, of Jerseyville, Ill., a cousin of the deceased, send us the following items: Martha Deborah Selby, born near Pittsburg, Iowa, Jan. 27, 1842, was the daughter of Obediah and Melissa Webster Selby. Some of the older residents of Keosauqua will remember her as a young girl, for several years a member of the family of her uncle and aunt Mr. and Mrs. Obed Stanard, with whom she lived until she was fourteen, then going away to school and becoming fitted for a teacher, which occupation she successfully followed for many years, supporting her younger sister and invalid brother until the latter's death. In Denver she married Mr. Hartwell, who lived but three years after the marriage. One son Edward Hartwell, now grown to manhood, is left to revere the memory of a devoted mother.
