Harry H. Eyre

Harry H. Eyre, son of John and Margaret Eyre, was born in Hillsboro, Iowa, Feb. 7, 1867, the third of four boys, and passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 1949 after a lingering illness. He had spent his entire life on a farm near Hillsboro and in Hillsboro, except for a short period he resided in Salem. He was a member of the Hillsboro Baptist church, and of the Modern Woodmen of America. He was well known all over Henry county, having served as county supervisor for eight years, also served on the Henry County Sunday School association board for several years.

He was married to Sadie Wilcoxson in 1893 and after her death he later married Mrs. Elizabeth Sprott in 1923.

Surviving are his widow, a step daughter, Mrs. Sadie Van Huesen and a step-son, Fred Sprott, both of Chicago and four nephews and one niece, beside a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Hillsboro Baptist church Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Edwin Skoglund, pastor of that church officiating.
