Charles Dial

Charles Harry Dial, 80, of 609 E. Main St., died unexpectedly at his home Saturday at 3 p.m.

He was the son of Thomas and Sarah Dial, born in Laddsdale on Sept. 7, 1889.

His first marriage took place in 1905 to Agnes Gates. She preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Orpha Lewis in 1933. She also preceded him in death.

He had been an Ottumwa resident the last 45 years and was a member of Eagles Lodge, 114 Aerie.

Survivors include one son, Francis Dial of Drakesville; two daughters, Mrs. Florence Dybawski of Venice, Calif., and Mrs. Ruth Long of Las Vegas; two stepchildren, Mrs. Helen Ross of Rockville, Md., and Mrs. Ruth Blizzard of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, and two sisters, Rhoda Dial of Eldon and Mrs. Ruth Burton of Eldon.

He was also preceded in death by one brother.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Traul Funeral Home with the Rev. Denis Cahalan of St. Patrick Church officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Eagles Lodge.
