WILLIAM L. BURDEN

William L. Burden was born August 16, 1849, in the state of Ohio, and passed away at his home in Birmingham Saturday, Oct. 1, 1938, at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 15 days. He came to Van Buren county when two years of age, and with the exception of five years, has spent his entire life in the vicinity of Birmingham. He moved to town 29 years ago.

He was married to Mrs. Malinda Donald Herald May 9 1876. To this union were born four children: Mrs. Bertha Scott of Birmingham, Fred of Pulaski, Victor of Chesterton, Ind., and Clarence of Birmingham.

He was a faithful member of the M.E. church of Birmingham until failing health kept him from attending services. He was present at the first interment in the Maple Hill cemetery.

For the past two years he has been in failing health. He was preceded in death by his wife on April 26, 1932, one step daughter, Mrs. May Wilson, his mother, father and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Birmingham M.E. church in charge of Rev. James of Keosauqua, assisted by Rev. Irvine of Birmingham. Interment in Maple Hill cemetery.
