Miss Tessie Lewis

Mrs. Effie Hufford has received word of the death of her sister, Miss Tessie Lewis, in the Mt. Alto hospital near Washington, D.C.

Miss Lewis, a graduate nurse from Graham hospital at Keokuk, enlisted in Des Moines and was a nurse during the World war. She was located at Camp Beauregarde, La., and in the Walter Reed hospital in Washington, D.C. She had been in failing health several years prior to her death.

She was born Feb. 24, 1884, at Eldon, Iowa, and was past 54 years of age at the time of her death. Those surviving are one brother, J.B. Lewis of Vicksburg, Miss., and three sisters, Mrs. Hufford of Farmington, Mrs. Grace Klippert and Stella Lewis of Berwyn, Md.

Funeral services were held in Washington and burial in the Arlington national cemetery, with full military honors.
