Arletta Marnell Marsh, 86, of Farmington, passed away Saturday November 26, 2016, at her home.

Born January 11, 1930, at Donnellson, IA, the daughter of Glenn Bryan and Myra Goebel Jannings. On June 4, 1950, at Farmington, IA, she married William Vandale Marsh. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2001.

Survivors include one daughter, Deborah (Terry) Stence of Fort Madison, IA; one son, Tom (Lola) Marsh of Bonaparte, IA; four grandchildren: Beth Ann (Jason) Fordice, Julie Lynn (Wes Hearn) Stence, Shelby Ann Marsh and Sydney Dawn Marsh; three great-grandchildren: Mya Kay, Peyton Ann and William Louis Fordice. Also surviving is one sister, Glendolyne Moore of New London, IA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one daughter-inlaw, Debbie Jo Herdrich Marsh.

Arletta was a graduate of Farmington High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught for six years in rural schools in Lee County, she later retired from the Harmony School District after 36 years. Following her retirement she continued to substitute teach in the Harmony schools.

Arletta was a member of the Farmington United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, PEO Chapter O, Van Buren County Retired Personnel, Farmington Cemetery AsSociation and she served on the Farmington Library Board. She enjoyed gardening, working with children, flowers, reading, playing cards, making sugar cookies and divine to share with friends, spending time with family and most important watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in various school activities.

Funeral services were held November 30, 2016, at the Farmington United Methodist Church with Pastors Michael Elrod and Dawn Butler officiating.

Burial was in the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington.

The Schmitz Funeral Home of Farmington assisted the family with arrangementS.
