EMERY BAIRD

John Emery Baird, son of William H. and Mary Baird, was born April 21, 1882 and passed away at his home in Cantril, July 24, 1956 at the age of seventy-four.

On January 11, 1903, he was united in marriage to Nellie M. Moore. Three sons and one daughter were born to this union.

In 1902 Mr. Baird confessed Christ as his Savior and united with the Methodist church. He has been a member of the Cantril Methodist church for many years.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Raymond Baird, Pomona, California, Arch Baird, Chicago, Ill., and one daughter, Mrs. John Jacobs of Chicago. Also nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Baird farmed in the vicinity of Cantril for many years, having moved to Cantril only recently.

Funeral services were held at the Cantril Methodist church, church, Thursday, July 26, at 2 p.m. Rev. Herbert C. Shaw, officiated, assisted by Rev. Edward Dubin, pastor of the church. Mrs. James Charbonneau sang two songs, accompanied by Mrs. Vera Fritz at the piano.

The pall bearers were Carroll Davis, Lloyd Smith, Hollis Saar, Larue Wilson, Wesley Pierce and Lloyd Jamison. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
